Hiding in the back of your closets and dresser drawers are likely many items that would be perfect for Clothing Reconstruction Workshop. Before you attend, please take some time to sort through your clothing and select enough items to fill one bag. Here are some examples and ideas regarding what you might bring:

  • gifts you have received that you don't wear (someone else may love them or turn them into something they love!)
  • treasured items that have lived in your closet for years (you don’t have to give them away, just bring back the love with a new hem, patches, straps, collar, or whatever)
  • garments you purchased but don't wear
  • regrettable shopping mistakes
  • clothing you have outgrown or that was too small to begin with
  • something drab that needs a kick!
  • clothing reconstruction projects that you’ve had tucked away with all your good intentions—this is the perfect time to tackle them!

Bring Clothes: skirts, jackets, blazers, suits, pants, hats, shirts, shoes, dresses, legwarmers, gloves, belts, accessories, jewelry, sunglasses, bags, costumes, lingerie, pajamas, etc. Please bring ONLY CLOTHING or wearable accessories.
Bring Ideas, Expertise, and Tools: If you know how to sew, crochet, knit, embroider, screen-print, stencil, or any textile-related skill please share with us! Please contact us with a quick heads-up if you’ve got something big in mind. We'd love to have you share your skills and knowledge with the community!
Please Do Not Bring: knick knacks, bicycles, books, TVs, radios, cell phones, appliances, furniture. This is a clothing reconstruction workshop, so, if you can't wear the item but want to donate it, please take it to a local second-hand store where it will be greatly appreciated.

If you dig through your closet and only find a few items to bring, don't worry; quantity is not a concern. Please simply bring what you are able, plus a small monetary donation to help cover the costs of the event.
Clothing Reconstruction Workshop is for boys, girls, men, and women. Everyone who wishes to participate is welcome regardless of age, gender identification, sexual preference, class, race, or other such consideration. If you are interested in creating new recycled goods out of existing waste clothing, this event is for YOU!

We plan to have an area where school-aged children can work on their own projects. Younger children are welcome but, unfortunately, we will not have childcare available.

The CRW was inspired by Wendy Tremayne's work.
Much of the language on this site is from her site.
